Using Size 10 crochet cotton or smaller and a size 7 hook ( I crochet tightly, adjust thread and needle so that 15 wraps your doll with space for a single snap in back.) This pattern also works with size 8 perle cotton for a softer dress.
Bodice: Starting at the waist, working from the bottom up:
Ch 15
R1: Work 1 SC in each Chain; Ch 1 turn
R2: Work 1 HDC in each SC; Ch 1 turn
R3: SC in first 5 HDC; skip 1 HDC chain 5; SC in 3 HDC; skip 1 HDC chain 5; SC in last 5 HDC; CH 1; SC down side to bottom of original chain.
Skirt: Starting at the waist, working from the top down:
R1: Work 1 SC in each Chain; Ch 1 turn
R2: Chain 4 then SC in each SC across; Ch 1 join to other end
Repeat R2 to desired length. Tie off in back when finished.
This dress has a final row of SC all the way around so that the bottom is even. If you want scallops across the bottom don't do the final SC row.
Sew one 4/0 snap to back of dress.
